Dover Area School District Receives Funding from GIANT

DOVER, PA – 04/07/2025 – The Dover Area School District is pleased to announce it has been awarded $5,764.54 through The GIANT Company’s Feeding School Kids initiative. This generous contribution will enhance several key food and nutrition programs throughout the district.
The funding will support three primary initiatives:
- Kindergarten Eat the Rainbow classroom lessons, which promote healthy eating habits among students at all elementary schools,
- The Senior Steak Luncheon, a celebratory meal provided to all graduating seniors in the Class of 2025, and
- Financial assistance for district families working to pay off outstanding school meal balances.
“We are grateful to The GIANT Company for their continued commitment to supporting student wellness and academic success,” said Ms. Kelly Renard, Dover Area School District’s Director of School Nutrition Services. “This funding helps us address nutritional education and food insecurity within our school community.”
The Dover Area School District remains committed to ensuring every student has access to nutritious meals and meaningful food education experiences.
From January 1 through March 31, customers at GIANT, MARTIN’S, and GIANT Heirloom Market stores were encouraged to round up their grocery purchases to the nearest dollar or convert their CHOICE points into donations to benefit their local public school districts’ food programs. The GIANT Company’s Feeding School Kids initiative has raised substantial money this year to support meal programs and tackle food insecurity.
