Congratulations to Grant Recipients: Dalia Schaszberger and Amanda Bennethum

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, Dalia Schaszberger and Amanda Bennethum, teachers at North Salem Elementary School, were presented with a check from the York County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (YCPASR) Educational Grant to support an exciting new initiative at their school. This initiative reflects our commitment to creativity, hands-on learning, and student engagement at every level.

Ms. Schaszberger and Ms. Bennethum are planning to transform one of the outdoor spaces between two of the building pods into a dynamic outdoor classroom for their students. Their vision for this space includes an investigation station, a weather station, a growing station, a LEGO building wall, and potentially a math and writing shed. Each of these elements is designed to spark curiosity and provide students with unique, engaging learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom.

This project is a wonderful example of how our educators continue to seek innovative ways to enrich our students' learning environment. Our district is grateful to the York County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees for their generous support in making this vision possible, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this outdoor classroom will have on the students of North Salem Elementary School.
