YAIAA Soccer Referee Chapter Award Honors Dover Boys’ Soccer
Our Dover Boys Soccer Team has earned additional recognition that goes beyond the scoreboard. The YAIAA Soccer Referee Chapter has selected our Eagles as recipients of their annual Sportsmanship Award, specifically honoring the team with the Division II Matthew McConnel Award.
This distinction, determined by the referees who officiated games throughout the season, speaks volumes about the character and integrity our student-athletes displayed during competition. The Matthew McConnel Award recognizes teams that exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, respect for opponents, and positive conduct.
The team will receive a traveling plaque at a presentation ceremony during the 2025 All-Star Soccer Game on Thursday, November 13th, at York College of Pennsylvania.
In an era where athletic achievement is often measured solely by championships and statistics, this award reminds us that how we compete matters just as much as the outcome. Our boys’ soccer program has demonstrated that Dover athletes can be fierce competitors while maintaining respect, composure, and class.
We extend our congratulations to the players, coaches, and families who have fostered this culture of sportsmanship. This award represents the values we strive to instill in all our student-athletes: dedication, respect, and integrity.
Well done, Eagles!
