Information to Share: Away Football Game (2024-08-30)

++++(UPDATE: 08/30/2024 1013)++++

Hello, Dover Community.

As a follow-up to the email communication last evening concerning the football game at South Western School District, the Dover Area School District received clarification on the entrance protocols:

“As clarification of last night’s message from our district, 9th and 10th-grade students will need a student ID and be accompanied by a parent or guardian to gain entrance to tonight’s game. All 11th and 12th-grade students will need their current student ID to enter the game, but they do not need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.”

Dover Area School District students who do not have a physical ID card should be able to access their student profile or schedule via the Skyward app, which shows that they are valid/active students.

Please remember that these protocols are being implemented out of an abundance of caution due to the unverified threat that South Western School District received. If we receive any additional communications, we will share them accordingly.

The message below has been communicated to the families and staff of the South Western School District, and we felt it prudent to share the same information with our community.

“Good Evening Mustang Families and Staff:
The district had been informed of a threat against tomorrow evening’s home football game against Dover.  When the district learned of this threat we immediately investigated it with the assistance of the Penn Township Police Department.  As a result of this investigation, the threat has not been verified.  However, in an abundance of caution, the district will be implementing the following steps at tomorrow’s game:
1.       Coordinated patrols during the game between Penn Township Police Department and G-Force Security Officers
2.      Students must be accompanied by an adult to enter the game
3.      Students must have a valid student ID to enter the game.  If you do not have a valid student ID, please report to your school office during the day and they will provide you with an alternative form of student verification.
4.       There will be no exit and re-entry during the game.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work together to keep our students and community safe while enjoying the rich tradition of Friday Night Football here at South Western School District.”

We will keep you appraised of any additional information the Dover Area School District may receive concerning this situation.
