WellSpan to Provide Sports Medicine Services to Dover Area School District Starting Fall of 2024
Dover Area School District is pleased to announce that it is partnering with WellSpan Sports Medicine to offer students high-quality, comprehensive sports medicine services. As a leading healthcare provider in the region, WellSpan is committed to supporting the health and well-being of student-athletes.
With the agreement beginning officially on July 1, 2024, WellSpan will provide the Dover Eagles with one full-time licensed athletic trainer, Kaitlyn Merritt, LAT, ATC, and a sports medicine-trained team physician, Dr. Jeremy Palmer, D.O. This dedicated team will support the district athletic trainer, David App, LAT, ATC, in ensuring the safety and care of the athletes.

WellSpan Sports Medicine is renowned for its team of expert physicians, surgeons, therapists, and athletic trainers. The comprehensive program utilizes multi-disciplinary and innovative approaches to healthcare, focusing on illness and injury prevention through education, awareness, and intervention. The WellSpan team is dedicated to providing efficient and effective treatment and rehabilitation for students and patients.
Services include concussion management, orthopedic surgical care, nonoperative sports medicine management, and physical and occupational therapy. The sports medicine team also offers athletic training for local college, high school, and club teams, as well as team physician game coverage. They also provide sports medicine primary care, nutritional services, and urgent orthopedic care, among other services, aimed at helping players train and play at their best.
