Dover Intermediate School: Pennies for Patients

Dover Intermediate School will be participating in Pennies for Patients sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society from February 2nd  _ February 26th

This program is a service learning, character education and philanthropy program that gives students a unique experience by making a difference through teamwork—working together to aid thousands of children and adults in the fight against blood cancers like leukemia.

Students collect money over a three-week period.  The money can come from friends or relatives or underneath the couch cushions. What's important is that it's collected.  The classroom who raises the most money will receive a pasta party courtesy of Olive Garden. Last year, students at the Intermediate School raised over $8,000. Dover Intermediate School was ranked 96th in the nation as far as most money raised. In the past 4 years Dover Intermediate School has raised over $16,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Hopefully, you can help us shatter this year’s school goal of $2,000.  If you would like to make an online donation, please click here.

The Dover Area High School Presents:
Mary Poppins

The high school will present Mary Poppins on March 4, 5 and 6.  Audiences can attend Friday or Saturday nights at 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 pm.  All seats are reserved.  Tickets can be purchased by emailing dovertickets@comcast.net.  Additionally tickets will be sold in the auditorium lobby on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 10 am to noon and in the cafeteria lobby from 9 am to noon on Saturday Feb. 27.  Tickets will also be available at the door.

Mary Poppins is the practically perfect nanny who helps us learn to take our medicine with a spoonful of sugar, find the silver lining in every situation, and realize that sometimes we should just use the winds of change to go fly a kite. Mary brings order to the Banks household, takes Jane and Michael out on magical adventures, and dispenses sage advice, such as, "anything can happen if you let it.".

Drawing inspiration from the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins first delighted Broadway audiences and now will delight our community as well. Mary Poppins is a show which is chock-full of familiar tunes. Audiences will recognize songs from the Disney film such as "Chim Chim Cher-ee," "A Spoonful of Sugar," "Feed the Birds," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," "Let's Go Fly a Kite," and "Step in Time."

As an extra event, the cast will host a Breakfast With the Characters on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 9 to 11 am in the high school cafeteria. To buy tickets for the breakfast contact
KLDelauter@gmail.com.,  or buy them the morning of the breakfast.

Dr. Mike McGough will be administering the CAPE test at LIU’s Central Office in New Oxford on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Please note that payment is being required with registration.  Waiting for payment has delayed returning test results in a timely manner. The CAPE assessment has been recognized by LEA’s within the region as an alternative assessment that can be used to document that any Title I-funded paraprofessional is “highly qualified” under the requirements of NCLB. All registrations should be returned to M. R. McGough, LLC, NOT LIU, at the address listed on the attached form.  If you have any questions, please email Dr. Mike McGough, drmike3@comcast.net
