STEM at Leib Elementary
During the recent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) event at Leib Elementary, students had an opportunity to participate in activities dealing with buoyancy using boats carrying fifty pennies, building bridges out of noodles to carry x amount of weight, and a mechanisms lesson with Legos working with Bricks for Kidz. Intermediate School Envirothon Team Cleans Up Course
The Intermediate School Envirothon Team cleaned up trash for Earth Day. Trash was removed from the creek and surrounding area on the cross country course between NSE and the IS.
Dover Sports Day
The Dover Area High School Varsity Club is sponsoring Dover Sports Day for children in grades K-8. The event will give the kids exposure to all sports available at the high school level. Participants will meet high school athletes and play games! Lunch will be provided. Most importantly, it’s FREE! The event will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 10am. – 2pm at the high school stadium. For a registration form, please click here. Dover High School Places 1st in PSA Contest
The month of May is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month. York County System of Care, Communities That Care and Safe Schools/Healthy Students sponsored a public service announcement contest focusing on youth mental illness, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, or suicide prevention. The purpose of the contest was to raise awareness about youth mental health issues and to de-stigmatize youth seeking help for their mental health issues. Martez Woodard Received LIU 2015 Student Achievement Award
Martez Woodard received a Lincoln Intermediate Unit 2015 Student Achievement Award on May 7th
during an awards luncheon and award program at the Lincoln Intermediate Unit main offices in New Oxford. Martez was one of ten students to receive this year’s awards. Martez is a senior at Dover Area High School who has shown growth since moving to his current classroom in the Spring of 2013. When he started in the class he was quiet and kept to himself, but this is not true today. Marez has embraced the opportunity to establish many friendships in the classroom with his smile and sense of humor. He has also blossomed in the area of vocational training. His willingness to learn and strengthen his vocational skills has been noticed by many in the school and community. Congratulations and Good luck with your future plans!
DASD Human Resources Department Launches New Application System
The Human Resources Department will officially “kick off”/implement a new “electronic” application system beginning Monday, May 11, 2015. All prospective candidates will begin applying online for all job openings at the Dover Area School District. This include all Administrative, Professional, Support job openings as well as substitute positions. No paper applications will be accepted after Friday, May 8, 2015. The DASD website has been modified to allow prospective candidates to click on a new “Employment Tab” at the top on our home page which will automatically navigate them directly to the Applitrack applicant web link
Dover Intermediate School Color Run
Dover Intermediate School will be hosting a 5k color run on Saturday June 6th. The run/walk is open to DOVER students in grades 6-12. Early registration is due May 8th and the cost is $25. This will include, a T-shirt, race bib, and color packet. Registrations received between May 9th and 22nd will be $30. DJ Mike Love will be playing during the event, Sarah’s Creamery will be selling ice cream, and L. Cali photography will be taking pictures for you to purchase. All proceeds raised will go to the DIS PTO. Registration forms can be turned into the students homeroom teacher.

The most recent changes came to us through Act 153 of 2014, which focuses on criminal background checks and impacts everyone employed, substituting or volunteering in a school district, effective immediately.

The PA Legislature has amended the Child Protective Services Law numerous times over the past year. The most recent changes came to us through Act 153 of 2014 which focuses on criminal background checks and impacts everyone employed, substituting or volunteering in a school district, effective immediately. Please review each of the links below for the appropriate information.
The Dover Area School District has established the internal deadline date of August 1, 2015 for employees to complete the submission of their clearances to the Human Resources Department. Please note; it is the obligation of each individual to accept the financial responsibility to obtain and submit all three (3) clearances to the district as required. When you obtain your new clearances, please submit them to the attention of Mrs. Heather Thomas – Payroll Coordinator/HR Secretary at the Administration Building. Please understand, this is a state mandate and as such requirements are placed on the district if documents are not provided by the deadline.
