Dover Intermediate School Band
International Exchange Concert

The Dover Area Intermediate School Band is in its inaugural year of an international partnership with the James Hornsby School, located in Basildon, England.  The bands have exchanged letters, pictures, videos and school spirit items.  The Dover Intermediate Band, under the direction of Mr. Seth Keller, is comprised of about 100 students in grades seven and eight.  The James Hornsby School band is in it’s very first year, under the direction of Miss Jessica Langley, with 14 students and growing.  Mr. Keller and Miss Langley studied music education together at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.

The bands performed their first annual Exchange Concert on Monday, May 16 at 9:00am EST, 14:00 BST.  The students in the JH Band were projected onto a screen at the front of the auditorium and simultaneously on the back wall so that the Dover Band could see them from the stage.  The audience energy was high and students were very enthusiastic about performing their first international venue.

The James Hornsby Band opened the program with Theme from Symphony No. 1, Movement 3 by Mahler.  The Dover Band began their portion of program with The Star Spangled Banner and the national anthem of Great Britain, God Save the Queen.  The band then performed Adele’s Hello, arranged by Michael Brown, and concluded with Finale from the Firebird Suite, by Igor Stravinsky and arranged by Michael Story.  Both Mr. Keller and Miss Langley look forward to continuing this partnership for many years to come.

Dr. Mike McGough will be administering the CAPE test at LIU’s Central Office in New Oxford on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Please note that payment is being required with registration.  Waiting for payment has delayed returning test results in a timely manner. The CAPE assessment has been recognized by LEA’s within the region as an alternative assessment that can be used to document that any Title I-funded paraprofessional is “highly qualified” under the requirements of NCLB. All registrations should be returned to M. R. McGough, LLC, NOT LIU, at the address listed on the attached form.  If you have any questions, please email Dr. Mike McGough, drmike3@comcast.net
